What’s the best school for illustration/visual art?

somegirl asked:

I’m an art student and I want to transfer to an illustration program or major in visual arts. Anyone know of any really good schools? Is OCAD in Toronto any good? That seems to be the school that I’ll most likely be going to since I’m Canadian and studying abroad just seems to be too complicated. Studying abroad isn’t out of the question though, since I would really like to study in another country. Thanks for any help.
The reason why I’m asking if OCAD is any good is because where I live (Greater Vancouver Area), There’s Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, and that school sucks major balls.

OCAD wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t good

I can only recommend one and that would be abroad for you: The Rhode Island School of Design (”RISD”) in Providence, RI, USA.

Yes OCAD is an excellent school. But a bit of an undiscovered gem much closer to you is the Fine Arts programme in the Creative Studies Department of UBC’s Okanagan campus. Check it out and see if it has what you want.

    Good luck.
