If you want to be a serious Graphic Designer, definitely design it using a reputable design program, ie CorelDRAW or Illustrator.
Don’t use Microsoft word or notepad or the Microsoft paint program.
Do more of what your strengths are…if you’re better at illustrating (drawing) using the program, do several of those. If you’re good at typography, like business cards or logos, do more of them. But show everything you can do… IE: logos, business cards, sketching, illustrating…
the more they see of your talent, the better you odds.
