Program for the Gifted in Visual Arts?
anicoleslaw asked:
I need some help. My daughter has been advised to apply for admission to a program for the gifted in visual arts (elementary school).
I would LOVE to see her in this program. It doesn’t cost anything and is sponsored by the regular school system.
What are they looking for when they make their placement decisions? They have asked me to fill out a questionnaire (which I have done) about my daughter and her talents and abilities.
Does anyone know their criteria for selecting which students are admitted into a program such as this?
Thanks!!

Usually these sort of things are judged on a folio of some sort. Many years ago I was in a similar program in Australia. Art is one of those things which needs to be seen, you can’t tell if someone has talent from a questionnaire. If I were you and would phone up the school and just ask what the criteria is and how it was judged. You might find you need to present a folio later which you could get started on now.
